Have set up network for friend - 3 pc's all XP Pro, Network is fine.
He has tried to set up ICS for his AOL Broadband (which isn't in the
'always on'state like my BY).

Appears to have the btvoyager under 'dial-up' connections
and
The Internet under 'Direct'.

Would the other 2 PC's work with the XP default gateway using Internet
Explorer
so long as his AOL9 is connected on the main pc ?

Any ideas on the correct configuration as the 'Network set-up Wizard' seems
unable to sort it.

He has battled with a small degree of short lived success and asked me back
round to tackle it. Wouldn't mind a few hints and tips from exisiting AOL
user or otherwise that has successfully shared the connection

Thank Chaps

Brian

There is some FAQ in the AOL Broadband pages for setting up sharing.
He needs an ADSL router though. Tell him to ring AOL's 0800 support
and they will help him.

If you want to get this configuration working to give internet access to the
networked PC's, you can use a proxy server running on the main machine
(instead of ICS). Have used analogx proxy server
http://www.analogx.com/contents/down...work/proxy.htm (free) to do this
before AOL allowed routers.
Router is the best option.
Sygate have a good piece of networking software (its like ICS but it works
!!), 30 days free trial, but money is better spent on hardware than software
in this case http://smb.sygate.com/products/shn.htm

Happy networking !
