Hi all!

I have a problem with a W2k3 server.
Every evening the workstations in the domain loses connectivety with the
shares on the server. In the morning when the people comes back from a good
night sleep everything works just fine again. Also, if a user logs off and
logs in again it's working again. It happens about the same time every day.
I have been looking in the Event Log, but haven't found any proof of any
errors.

Any ideas, anyone?

Rgds,
Micael

Well i am not sure what the problem is so all i can recommend is to use a
sniffer like IRIS or any other to watch the traffic if possible. Look at the
packets that are in your LAN to see if any thing is wrong. Hope this helps

Thanks, I was hoping that someone had experienced the same problem.
I'm a little hesitent to start using a sniffer for just this one-time
problem...
It seems like an expensive solution to buy a sniffer software for a one-time
use.
I might just call the MS Support instead... we'll see.

Thanks anyway Serkan!

We are having the exact same problem with our network at the office. We initially thought it was an issue with Sage Business Works (our software) but I believe it is a server issue. Business Works will stop running and give us error: "cannnot locate DB directory." Then when I attempt to print on our network printer I receive the error, "RPC server unavailable."

This problem happens only at the end of the day after the work stations have been on for 8 or 9 hours. If we restart a work station we do not have any issues. If a work station is restarted in the middle of the day we do not have any issues later in the day.

Our computer guy says it could be a bad switch that may be "dropping packets" but wouldnt this cause the error all day long.

All of our back up and anti-virus update stuff has been moved to the middle of the night so i believe we can rule that out.

Please help.

Thanks
