When the W2K computer starts up, it becomes the master browser for the
network, taking that role away from the computer that was the master
browser. Such a change can disrupt network browsing for up to 15
minutes.
Here are two possible solutions:
1. Even when Network Neighborhood doesn't work, you can access another
computer by typing its name in the Start | Run box in this format:
\\computer
2. Prevent W2K from becoming the master browser:
a. Right click My Computer, and click Manage.
b. Double click Services and Applications.
c. Double click Services.
d. Double click Computer Browser. If the Service status is Started,
click Stop.
e. Set the Startup type to Disabled.
