Today, we upgraded a computer from windows 98 to windows 2000. After
all network settings had been configured, I proceeded with adding a
printer.
The printer was connected to another PC running win98 and was shared
on the network. Now, I navigated my way through Network Neighbourhood
to the windows 98 machine and I could see the printer it was sharing.
I then tried to "connect" to the printer and it asked us to install a
compatible driver. I directed the installation to the printer driver
for windows 2000. At this stage the process of installing the shared
printer to windows 2000 froze.
I could clearly see that the printer status was "Opening" and the the
process "spoolsv.exe" had plenty of CPU usage.
I tried reinstalling the shared printer on windows 2000 but to no
avail. Eveything worked when both machines were on windows 98.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
