Shared Network Account causing problems

Hello All

We are using a generic Student1 domain user account for a number of students
in our classroom. The user account is a roaming profile, and a GPO is set to
remove the profile from the local system at logout.

We have numerous issues with this set-up, including missing/disappearing
icons and menu shortcuts, stupid long log on times and so on. Also, the
account will at times even stay on the local machine and not be affected by
the GPO.

One fix is to wait until all the students are logged off from this account,
remove the profile, where necessary, from the local machines, then fix the
profile on the server.

I think it has to do with this ID being set-up as a roaming profile and
would like to change, but need to convince others of that.

Any thoughts on this situation?

Thanks, Paul

If these are students I would definitely advise to set them up with
mandatory profiles (so they cannot change them). Or sooner or later you
know what will happen. And you can't track security-wise who is
"Student1" - even though it is more work up front I would strongly advise to
use differentiating names for each student so their activities can be
tracked (i.e. Internet access).
