Shared folder access

Hi I have a fully working network all set up but I am
unable to access a vital part of my network.
I have an external hard disk containing my mp3s connected
to my desktop via usb2. This is shared on the network and
this isall fine. But when I try to access the folder on my
laptop is says that "there is not enough free memory to
access the folder. Try closing down some programs and try
again." I don't understand since im not running any extra
programs.
The Desktop is running XP Home, the laptop Windows ME.
However other folders and drives shared on the desktop all
work fine except any stored on the external drive.
Can anyone help???

Might ask in one of the regular networking newsgroups like
microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web and see if they can help. This
newsgroup supports Microsoft's Broadband Networking hardware and software
only.
