Hi, i have a strange problem with an HP nas; i have a directory shared but
the customer program didn't see any subdir if the name of the subdir is more
than 8 character. Other program can navigate trough the directory (also with
more than 8 chr) withou problem.... ok ok seem the customer program
idiot...... but if i get the same directory structure shared and get it on
the ibm DC (o on a normal windows 2000 pc), the same stupid program see al
the directory without problem.

The HP nas use a 2003 server s.o. , the client are w2000 o windows xp and no
other problem are present... eventi viewer is ok and there is a IBM DC with
also windows2003 s.o.

Someone can help me in this strange problem ? please help me.....

Bye
Marco.

Can you tell me the costumer program?
Did you try to contact the program support?
I think this is not a Windows problem...

The progam is a costumer progamr to associate the information of old book
with the scannerized pages of the same bokk. The problem is in a library.

I don't know there is the problem, but:

a) if i share the directory structure on the windows 2003 ibm DC (or on a
normal w2000 client) i have no problem

b) if i share the directory structure on the windows 2003 HP NAS (or on a
normal w2000 client) i have no problem with program like office, IE, etc.

c) if i share the directory structure on the windows 2003 HP NAS (or on a
normal w2000 client) i can't see the directory and subdi with name > 8
characters.
