You wouldn't use two routers, and the best and most reliable thing you could
do is run an Ethernet cable between the two houses. The first house would
have the cable modem and router, and the second house would have either a
switch or wireless access point (WAP), connected to the router via the
Ethernet cable. Then you could both share internet and if you got voip
through a company like "Packet 8", the modulators just plug into the router
and switch or access point, and you can both enjoy crappy, but cheap,
telephone service
