SBS 2003 domain controller.
Win2k Terminal Server.
XP Pro WS14 has USB (GDI) local printer shared.

WS14 wants to use printer when using terminal services but it doesn't show
in AD even though the appropriate box is ticked. Printer works fine locally.

I have tried to connect to this printer from TS by
(1)Add Printer, Network Printer, browse to WS14 and look for it. Not there.
(2)In My computer, typing \\WS14 in address bar results in error "Windows
can't find \\WS14..." although I can ping it. In similar situations I am
presented with folders and printers which have been shared. I usually R
click the printer, click connect. All done.

Any ideas what is happening in this case.

TIA

Look in the TS System Event Log for event 1111 (source TermServDevices). It
will tell you that the driver is missing on the server.

Install the driver in Start | Printers and Faxes | File | Server Properties
| Drivers | Add.

It should work OK after that.

Hi - this would be a better question to post in
microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services (and SBS questions would be best
posted in m.p.windows.server.sbs....although this isn't one of 'em).

Check the event logs on the TS box and find out what it's complaining about.
It's probably the printer driver - but in TS, you don't want to go
installing drivers willy-nilly.
