How may I view CIFS share level permissions from a Command Prompt instead of
Windows Explorer?

Net Share <share name>

This will return something such as:

Net Share myshare

Share name: myshare
Path C:\Documents and Settings\wolfgang\Desktop\My Share Test
Remark:
Maximum users: No limit
Users
Caching Manual: caching of documents
Permission: DEV1\wolfgang, CHANGE

The command completed successfully.

Thank you very much. I've also discovered a Microsoft tool for viewing
permissions on a remote share, "rmtshare.exe". It's available at:

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt...86/RMTSHAR.EXE

Note: "rmtshar.exe" is the self-extracting archive that creates "rmtshare.exe"
and a "readme" file.

If you just run "rmtshare \\servername" you get a list of all the share names on
the server and the corresponding host path.

If you run "rmtshare \\servername\sharename", you can see the host path plus the
share level permissions for the share:

Z:\seitz>rmtshare \\servername\c$
Share name \\servername\c$
Path C:\
Remark Remote Administration
Maximum users No limit
Users 1
Permissions:
BUILTIN\Administrators: FULL CONTROL
The command completed successfully.
