Comment 1) Visit the LinkSys web site
http://www.linksys.com
and click on the "Educate Me" tab.
Comment 2) If you are wondering if two (or more) computers can share a
single wireless access point (WAP) router, the answer is yes. In other
words, both computers can access the Internet via the WAP router. For
example:
:Internet:<-->|<-->[Modem]<==>{WAP} ((radio waves)) <hosts>
where,
'|' is the wall socket that provides Internet access to your
residence / workplace (e.g., POTS, ISDN, DSL, ATM, Cable TV, etc.)
[modem] is the "box" that plugs into the wall socket (e.g., an ISDN
modem, a cable modem, a telephone/dial-up modem, etc.). Some Internet
Service Providers supply this box, others do not (in which case you must
buy this box yourself).
{WAP} is the wireless access point router (e.g., a LinkSys model
'WAP55AG' "Dual-Band Wireless A + G Access Point" router)
<hosts> are the computers on your local area network that have
802.11 wireless cards in them (e.g., your WinXP computer and your
Mandrake 9.1 computer)
Note: Some WAP routers have a broadband modem built in. So if your wall
socket provides an ADSL connection to the Internet (for example), then a
WAP with a built in ADSL modem would plug directly into the wall socket,
:Internet:<-->|<-->{Modem/WAP} ((radio waves)) <hosts>
