I have a workgroup network at home but cannot share DVD ROM player & CD
Writer for other members of the network. I have configured it by right
clicking the drive and selecting share and security and then sharing to
everyone in Permissions list other share on hard disks. It does not work on
DVD ROM player & CD Writer. Can someone tell me the exact steps to share
such device on my Windows xp Pro os.

Thanks,

Ray

When you say the DVD and the writer are not shared, do you mean other users
can't see files on them, or other users can't play movies and burn to them?

I've shared a burner but that meant using DirectCD to burn to it across the
network. I don't think you will be able to author CDs across a network
using Nero etc. They will see only local burners.

I've shared a DVD but that meant only accessing files on it, not playing DVD
movies. I think DVDplay will work only with local drives.
