Hello,

We have some workstations that after being idle would drop the share
connections to our server, here's our setup:

Windows 2003 Server standard edition SP2 with one drive share and 5
printer shares, setup in a workgroup.

Workstation Windows XP SP2 Pro.

I used the explorer-tools-map network drive to map the network drive
on the workstation \\server\g and with the reconnect at logon box
checked.

For the printer mapping I used the net use lpt1 \\server\laser /
persistent:yes

We use a legacy application that runs in DOS that connects to the
database on the server to run and also to be able to print from it the
printer has to be mapped to an lpt port. So after a workstation sits
there idle I guess the connection closes and the application freezes
and has to be restarted. If you go to command prompt and issue a net
use command you get unavailable messages for both the network drive
mapping and printer mapping, if you go to my computer and double click
on the network drive it will open up and if you go back to command
prompt to issue a net use it will show the network drive mapping as OK
but not the printer, you would need to restart the pc for it to
reconnect.

I also issued a net config server timeout 99999 command on the server
so it won't drop any connections.

Is there a command on workstation or a setting that we can change so
it will not drop connections?

Thanks in advance for your help!

FYI

When I do net use LPT1: or P:

I Get system error 67 has occured. the network name cannot be found.
Could this be a wins / netbios problem?
