I got the Airport Express this morning, and thanks especially to Neill
Masello and nospam, I got connected to that city-wide WiFi.

I will try it again later (in the dead of the night), but even during
the hours of noon to 2:00pm, it averaged about six times faster than my
dialup connection.

It sure seems like every piece of setup instructions has holes in it,
but somehow - I'm still not sure how - I got it to connect with my
computer and get a list of WiFi's that were on.

Maybe I'm a masochist, but I probably will do a hard reset on the
Airport Express and see how long it takes for me to set it up again.

Oh, BTW, I looped that Airport Express over the fixture that holds the
vertical blinds, using a heavy-duty extension cord and a 25' ethernet
cable, to place it high and next to the window.

Thanks, people.
