you can use windows 2003 server as a proxy server in both ways
(Using Windows Server 2003 Built configuration)
1. Using Simple Sharing
2. Using Routing and Remote Access ( built in tool ) by using NAT( Network
Address Translation )
3. MS Home (Server Make a MS Home workgroup Network for Internet)
(Using Third Party Tools)
Like ISA,wingate, winproxy ets.
(Using Windows Server Built Configuration)
1.Server Site Setting: in simple sharing you must have two saparate
connections.
first is WAN connection means internet connection ( Dial up, ISDN ,
DSL,
ASDL)
Second is Lan Connection
if you are used simple sharing your LAN connection will must be bound on
192.168.0.1
Step to used Simple Sharing
1. Start>Settings>Control Panel then go to network & Dial up Connection
folder
2. in this folder you can see two connection one is internet and other is
LAN connection . Select the Internet Connection( Dial up, ISDN , DSL,ASDL)
Right click on Internet Connection and then goes to its Property
then Click on Last Tab Advanced and then check on Internet Connection Sharing
on that time message will appear Read Care fully Then ok Cause this message
is for your IP bounding, your other LAN Connection will bound on this ip
192.168.0.1 its compulsory your other network computer must on Class C Ip
Address. its Server site Setting
Client Site Setting : go to LAN connection Property then select internet
protocol (tcp/ip)
then go to its property give any class c ip like
ip Adress 192.168.0.5
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gate way 192.168.0.1 ( Cause its your Proxy Server)
Preferred DNS Server 192.168.0.1 . Close the property
then open internet explorer then go to tool menu then click on internet
options
then click on connetion Tab then select Lan setting and then check only
automatically dectect setting if any other setting are checked then uncheck
others only check on automatically dectect setting. its all over . this
setting must have all other network computer but only one exception ip
address, cause each computer must have unique ip address.
Enjoy the browsing.
2. Using Routing and Remote Access is very easy cause its tool base
