I have my "main machine" in the front. I have a wireless/wired router
that doesn't reach the back.

SO, I want to run an cat 5 cable to the back and connect an AP that
will cover that part of the house AND share it with the house behind me
that is about 100 feet or so with good los.

QUESTION: Do I need an AP or a bridge?

My main router is a Belkin F5d7230-4 v2000.

Thanks.

access point....run a cable from your router to the access point in the

Another access point set to a different channel than the exixting one should
do the job.
A directional antenna at your friends house pointed toward yours sure would
help make the connection to him.
