How to setup hosts file

I have Win98 and am trying to set up the hosts file so
that a named domain such as www.myhost.com will be mapped
to an IP address such as 192.168.1.110 in my LAN. I tried
updating the hosts.sam file in c:windows folder, but no
luck.

Edit the "hosts.sam" file, then save it as just "hosts.", without the
".sam" or ".txt".
