What exactly does Control Panel | Networking show? What are the two
components that you see?
"Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing" should
appear.
If the computer has more than one network adapter (e.g. Dial-Up
Adapter and Ethernet NIC), it should show:
Dial-Up Adapter
NIC
TCP/IP->Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP->NIC
If the computer has only one network adapter, the adapter name doesn't
appear in the bindings. It should show:
Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP
or
NIC
TCP/IP
If the NIC doesn't appear at all, it probably isn't properly
installed. Check Device Manager to see.
