setting up wireless network with xbox

I'm thinking about setting up a wireless network with a
desktop PC, laptop, and xbox.

Besides a wireless router, wireless xbox adapter and
wireless pc card, do I need anything else?

I am not sure if I need a wireless base station. Is that
really an access point? Why would I need the wireless
base station?
