Setting up P-t-p network in Redhat / Fedora

I have two machines connected by a point-to-point connection. I can
start the connection via commands in rc.local, but the existing network
config tools don't seem to allow a P-t-p setup.

I could set up a mini-network with netmask 255.255.255.255 as well, but
it isn't P-t-p, it's just a really small CIDR block. ;-)

Any thoughts on how this can be done using the "config" tools?

Give more information please:

What is your PTP connection (serial cable, modem, ...) ?
What commands do you use to setup this connection ?
What's your OS (debian, redhat, ...) ?

Some system information :

ifconfig
netstat -rn
....

A "draw" of what you want and your network connections.

Regards
