Setting up new MN-500

I am trying to setup a new MN-500. When setup tries to
configure the router, it cannot be accessed. An I can
never establish an internet connection. Even though it
looks like packets are being received. I am using a
static IP. I have no firewall or antivirus. I am running
XP. All the activity lights are lite. Everything appears
to be right, but no internet.

Any suggestions?

The PC may be stuck with the static IP, or ICF is
blocking access.

Browse to http://192.168.2.1 and configure the router to
use the static IP, under WAN settings.

Also on the PC, change the network settings from the
static IP to a dynamic IP, or assign a static IP in the
192.168.2.x subnet (e.g. IP 192.168.2.2, mask
255.255.255.0, DNS and gateway 192.168.2.1).

I tried your suggestions. Still not connecting to the
web. It is really strange. Everything looks like it
should be working. All lights are correct. Packets look
like they are coming in, but no access yet. Not through
browser, mail client etc..

If I manually set the addresses for the adapter instead
of just automatically assigned, should I enable or
disable the DHCP on the router.

After a long conversation with the MS support, I was told
that I need my ISP to register my MN-500's MAC address.
Does this sound correct?

depends on the ISP, but usually cloning the MAC address of the
computer or device that was previously connected to the broadband
modem into the base station and power cycling the modem will
accomplish the same thing

Well, I have no idea what happened, but now it is
working. That's what I hate about bouncing between
different tech support. Everyone is having you do
different things. When finally something works, you can't
determine what variable is was that caused the problem.
Hopefully once I disconnect everying any set it up my
router where I want it, everything will still work.
