Setting up a network

What do you do when you cannot find or remember your network security key or
passphrase?

Wired computer -- Windows XP Pro (not a name brand computer)
Using Windstream DSL
Linkys Wireless G Broadband Router
Toshiba Wireless Laptop Satellite L305D - S5932 with Vista Home Premium

If you mean the one for your wireless network, the easiest way is to log
on to your router by connecting your computer to it with an Ethernet cable.

For most Linksys routers:

- Open your browser and enter 192.168.1.1 for the address
- On the router login screen, leave the username blank and enter "admin"
(without quotes) as the password.
- Click on the "Wireless" tab and then on the "Wireless Security" tab.
- Your encryption key should be shown in clear text. If not, just enter
a new password and click "Save settings."

And if you set an admin password and don't know it, then there is a
reset button on the back of the router that if held in for 10 seconds or
so will reset the router back to factory defaults. Meaning there is no
custom changes, no passwords, no wireless setup etc. Nothing. The
wired connections will work, and you use that to connect as Lem said
above to setup the wireless with a new key phrase. Then set that key
phrase in the laptop.

Remember, the reset removes all custom settings in the router and should
be used only as a last recourse.
