Got my 802.11a home network working really well - after several weeks !

Struggling to setup ICS - I have HAD it working in last few weeks but seems
to have stopped now ?

Anyone know any really good sites for this on XP ?

Andy,

If you are using a router, you don't need to use ICS, which is kind of
shakey. If you have broadband, you should invest in a cheap router and
network properly, rather than using ICS>

If you still insist on using ICS, go to: practicallynetworked.com for some
good info.

the answer to your problem is www.analogx.com. Goto the software, network,
and download PROXY. Works great. I had been trying share my wireless
internet connection to my laptop thru a switch to other computers in my lab
that is located 300 feet from my DSL connection at the house. ICS, other
proxy software was no use at all. Just a bout gave up till I remembered
about www.analogx.com. Very easy to setup and install. Very little system
resources to run it.

Setup Details:

Speedstream 5360 mode, to Dlink 614+, thru wall, across 300 foot field, thru
a wall, to a BWU613 USB 802.11b (www.iblitzz.com), to a gateway laptop. I
get 53% sig strength with no extra antennas at either end. Thru the proxy
from analogx, then to a 3com pcmcia card, to a switch, to the other 3
computers. Works pretty fast too, about 53kbps

Does PROXY allow filesharing?
