I work at a conference center and we would like to offer free wireless
service in the 20,000 SQ FT. building.

We would like people to have to go through a simple registration page
and then have full access.

We don't have a DNS server at the location, we use our ISP's.

Any thoughts how we could do this?

I was looking at D-Link's DSA-3100 Public/Private Hot Spot Gateway
(http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=173)

Also looking for suggestions on wireless hardware for the location. It
would mostly be used by only a few people at a time. Full use could
approach 200 people.

Thanks for suggestions

Check out Proxim AP-2000 or AP-2500. It will do what you want and been
around a lot longer than consumer type D-Link stuff. Not sure about the 200
users though, that might be pushing it. Probably need more than one AP...

Get a free trial of FirstSpot at http://patronsoft.com/firstspot. It
is WLAN AP neutral so that you won't be tied up to one particular
brand.

http://www.dnsredirector.com
seems like a simple tool to do the job.
I don't think it matters whether you have a local dns or not. You set up a
server to run the spalsh page and qualification pages, and then supply the
"real" DNS address.
If someone already has a static DNS instead of DHCP-discovered, I'm not
sure this package works, but I've never tried it.
