Hi there,

I am trying to set up my alcatel speedtouch USB modem under Redhat 7.3
(kernel 2.4.18-3).
I have followed a how-to which took me through:
1) editing my kernel config using 'make menuconfig' and 'make dep'.
2) Then I had to ./configure && make the drivers
3) Then I had to create ppp devices and edit some files
All seemed to be working fine, when I connect the modem to the machine then
type

'modem_run -m -f /home/allan/alcaudsl.sys'

The modem starts to flash and after about 15 seconds the lights stay steady.
So then I type

'pppd call adsl'

to connect. When I try to ping or do anything, there is no connection.
When I look under ifconfig, ppp0 is there but says 0 bytes received and 0
bytes transmitted.

Does anybody know what the problem might be?
Thanks
Allan
