Setting Static IP addresses

I have a Windows 2000 Enterprise SP4 with two NIC's (one NIC which has 2
ports that are teamed to a single interface, and the NIC is used for the
Cluster link with the second node on the cluster.)

Here is the problem both NIC's have to have a static IP address.

I set the static settings for the Teamed LAN NIC, no problem there.
I do and "ipconfig /all" to check and everything looks fine for the first
NIC

Ethernet adapter Teamed_LAN:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teamed_LAN
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-02-A5-CE-B4-42
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . .: 192.168.1.26
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2
192.168.1.3

Then I set the static for the Cluster Link NIC, then when I do and "ipconfig
/all" the first NIC shows DHCP and not static.

Ethernet adapter Teamed_LAN:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teamed_LAN
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-02-A5-CE-B4-42
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.26
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . :
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . :
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Wednesday, December 31, 1969
4:00:02 PM
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Wednesday, December 31, 1969
4:00:02 PM

And the Cluster Link shows
Ethernet adapter Cluster_Link:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : HP NC3163 Fast Ethernet NIC
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-02-A5-D4-D2-FC
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

If I go to the TCP/IP setting on the NIC's they are set to DHCP and all the
static settings are gone.

I have tried uninstalling the NIC's and reinstalling them to just get the
same results.

Hello Alex,

If you will configure them for a cluster, you can not team them this way.
One physical NIC for the cluster<->cluster connection and one for the LAN
is needed. So break the team or install a 3rd NIC.

The Teamed on is for the LAN, the second NIC is for the Cluster which is not
teamed.

NIC one is a 2 port NIC that has the 2 ports teamed.
NIC two is a 1 port NIC dedicated for just the cluster.

I have the same setup on the other node and that works fine as well as the
other clusters in the network.

Hello Alex,

Sorry, misread the question. Are both servers have the same NIC drivers and
teaming software from HP running?

Best regards

Hello Alex,

What HP servers do you use?

BTW, starting now with a 2000 cluster is not the best solution, it is out
of support, better upgrade at least to 2003.

Best regards

These are old Compaq CL360's. This is not a new cluster, this is an
existing cluster. And while I would prefer to upgrade, that is not in our
budget at this time and not from lack of trying on my part.
