Setting NTP domain time source

I am upgrading my DC's to new hardware.

When moving the ntp time source to the new pdc, is it best to use the
comand line to config the new pdc:

w32tm /config /manualpeerlisteers /syncfromflags:manual /reliable:yes
/update

and on the clients:

w32tm /config /syncfromflags:domhier /update

Or set this in a domain controller and server policy?

I have a domain with 3 dc's and the member servers use any of the three as a
time source. Setting the client through command line does not always change
the ntp source.

I originally manually configured the new pdc as the time source using
kb816042.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Hello Jeff,

You can use the command to set the new PDCEmulator. Also check that you reset
the old PDCEmulator to the new one:

w32tm /config /syncfromflags:domhier /reliable:no /update

After that stop and start the time service on the old one.

The clients should work without resetting them, because they choose automatically
the DC's from your domain as a time source.
