What's the best MSS value for networks that are connected to the Internet
via ADSL? Am I best to use the same value on all networks where data might
be routed to/from the ADSL modem? I seem to remember setting a 'clamp MSS'
option in Shorewall for dial-up, I take it I can drop that now?

Simon

Setting 1478 MTU on clients is a bit more efficient than 1500 assuming
PPPOA - I thought MSS would be derived from setting MTU.

I suppose clamping MSS lets you force it on clients with a higher setting,
though IIRC there can be complications to doing this. I think there's a bit
in the LARTC on that.

Andy.
