Hi,

How can I setup a linux machine with 2 or more network cards as a
network switch?

Thanks,
Asfand Yar

See the Bridging mini HOWTO

More HOWTOs can be found here

Allow me to elaborate on what I'm trying to do:

---------------------------------
| pc1 |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| "virtual" device |
| eth2 ^ |
| | |
| | |
| bridged |
| | | |
| NIC <-| --> NIC |
| eth1 eth0 |
| | \ |
----------------|--------------|-
| |
/ \-\
| \
/ \
/ -------
/ | |
------- | pc3 |
| | | |
| pc2 | -------
| |
-------

As you can see, what I'm really trying to do is to setup my box with 2
NICS to act as a switch between 2 other PCs and myself: i.e. to do the
job of a switch as well its own job.

Before you tell me to go buy a real switch, I know its possible (I'm
doing this more as a scientific exercise than anything else.)

Ideas?

Thanks,
Asfand Yar
