In your browser, go to Tools, Options, and Connections. Set it for "Never
dial a connection". Before I did this, it kept trying to use my dial up
connection.

Hope that helps.

Go to the computer which the Internet connection is set up and enable ICS
(Internet Connection Sharing) on it. Then, you open IE on every other
computer you want to also access the Internet and open the "Preferences ->
Internet settings" menu option (or at least something similar, since I use
IE in Spanish and can't remember the menu names in English). Then you go to
the "Connections" tab and click on the "LAN settings" button and after the
LAN settings window is open, instruct IE to automatically detect the
settings. If everything is fine, you should get Internet connection on every
computer within the network. I've recently set up an ad-hoc 802.11g network
this way and everything is working fine with two desktop computers and one
laptop.
