Services not starting on Windows 2000 Server

Hi

We have a small network with 1 windows 2000 server. This rebooted
today for no apparent reason and various services failed to start -
Workstation, Server and Netlogon among them. I've attempted to start
these manually but can't.
The root of the problem seems to be the failure of a service named 'dns
resolve agent'.
If I attempt to start this I get an error message saying 'file not
found'.
I've reapplied service pack 4 as someone informed me that this would
restore system files.

Unfortunately this hasn't made any difference.

I've had a search on the web for references to this service but found
nothing.

I'd be grateful for any advice.
