Service Pack 1

I've tried installing 2003 Server Service Pack 1, twice now with the same
result. After installing, I am unable to communicate with the server from
network workstations. I can ping the workstations from the server, but I
cannot ping the server. Also, I cannot log onto the server's website(s). If
I uninstall Svc Pk1, all is well. I've read that an upgrade to Svc Pk 1 from
Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition does not display the dialog box for
installing security updates. I used the express method of installing from
Windows update and did not receive the dialog. Subsequently, I installed
four security updates & re-booted, but to no avail. I'm assuming that my
problem is related to Svc Pk 1's increased security, but I do not know how to
break through the difficulties. Windows firewall does not activate when Svc
Pk 1 is installed. If I remember correctly, when I tried to activate/edit
the firewall settings, it displayed a message related to NAT. Any help is
greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you don't have two NICs, you can't use the Windows firewall on the server
(and I wouldn't recommend using two NICs or the windows firewall anyway).

Have you checked your event logs for errors when SP1 is installed?
