We have a service that needs to write to a share in the network/domain.
Currently it is set to login as local system account. That isnt working,
even though the share is open to everyone. Do we need to setup the service
with a domain account? We dont quite get how this local service account
works or if there is a better account to use.

Hello MS News,

Create a dedicated normal domain user account with a strong password and
give it the needed rights on the share. Then you have to configure some "user
rights assignment" settings. At least you need Logon as a service for this
account, maybe some more, you have to find with try and error or if you have
a documentation it can be stated there. If it is on a domain controller you
have to configure this setting in the default domain controllers policy,
otherwise create a new GPO and link it to the OU where this server is located.

Best regards
