I have experienced similar problems, but a long time ago. I had a client
with a faulty switch that kept flapping certain ports. When the conenction
to the DC was broken, and the clients had Offline Files configured (as well
as folder redirection), the same scenario you described would happen.
I don't know if it was a result of Offline Files, Folder Redirection, or
having both on the same machine...
Either way, check the switch and make sure it isn't faulty or overloaded.
