My 2003 server has disappeared from Network Places on all the workstations.
At th sametime that happend users are losing their connection to the server
and having to reboot constantly to restore their mapped drives.

Are you using AD?
Are you using WINS?

Have you done any connectivity testing when the problem occurs
e.g., ping by tcp/ip address or by name? Checked the system log
in the event viewer for any related errors? You say they lose their
mapped drives but you didn't mention errors of any kind e.g., does
the drive disappear, they get an error? Without rebooting have you
tried to re-map the share? If so what error do you get? It would be
hard to give you any advise without more details.

The only way to reconnect is to reboot. There are no errors in the log files.
I did just notice that the server is no longer listed in Network Places on
any of the computers.

So can we assume ping by tcp/ip address failed or does the server crash /
lockup? The reason I ask is to try and narrow things down in an attempt
to find your issue. The standard troubleshooting calls for a simple ping by
tcp/ip address, if this works then chances are you can rule out NIC,
cable or rounting and move on to name resolution. If it doesn't work then
start with the NIC. Ipconfig /all at a command prompt to verify the NIC
is getting an address next move to cable or routing. You have to find the
cause or root of your issue in order to resolve your issue.

I can ping the Server by its IP but not name. The workstations get an error
saying that it is now working offline from the ServerName click here to try
and connect. I click and it gives me a timeout error. I restart the
Workstation (they are all 2KPro) and everything works great. Could it be a
DNS issue? I have not changed anything there since initial install. But it is
very strange that the sever is no longer in Network places when you click
entire. All other workstations are there????

I have experienced similar problems, but a long time ago. I had a client
with a faulty switch that kept flapping certain ports. When the conenction
to the DC was broken, and the clients had Offline Files configured (as well
as folder redirection), the same scenario you described would happen.

I don't know if it was a result of Offline Files, Folder Redirection, or
having both on the same machine...

Either way, check the switch and make sure it isn't faulty or overloaded.
