Server Connection Interruption

I've been experiencing interruptions in connection from my xp clients to
my 2003 file server. The clients will all go to the offline state. The
interruption is brief and seems to happen under our heaviest loads. I
think the server should be able to handle the load, which at peak is
40Mb of a Gig link. I tried teaming 2 nics together with no change.
The nics are intel onboard server nics. I have a mixed environment with
some macs which have their home directories on the server and they flash
a message about the server being disconnected briefly as well. My
questions are:

1. Is there a way to get verbose logging from the Server process that
might help me nail down this issue?

2. In 2003 server is there a maximum connections setting that might be
causeing this?

Thank you for your help.

Our dns servers are our two DCs. The file server is a seperate box. I
haven't had any replication issues between the DCs but I'll check to
make sure.

Thanks,
Andy.
