I am running a small network(2k3). My problem is that when I go to
Windows Explorer from any client, the server is not shown. Its not
even shown when I use the Explorer from the server. All clients and
server can ping each other both by name and IP.
Would appreciate any help.

This is a computer browser issue. The browse list is somewhat flaky. I
wouldn't worry about it as long as you can map drives and login.

Cheers,
Lara

Did you check whether your virus or firewall software is blocking your
server from being seen? Try after disabling them.

My problem is as described: when I go to My Network Places (Windows
Explorer) and click Explore, the server does not appear.

Hello John,

So it is not an "access" problem. Check that the master browser service is
running, also you can install WINS in your network. ANd if not done:
Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP

network properties>TCP/IP>advanced>WINS>enable netbios over TCP

Thanks a lot. It worked. I installed WINS and it worked immediately.
