why do you need NETBUI. If you do, make TCP/IP on the top of bind.

Is it this complicated …
I have a domain with a PDC- emulator(which is the exchange server) and two
servers ( file)not DC, all on W2k SP4 and workstations on XP SP2. Up to
here all is fine I can browse and ping all computers- thing work fine.
I installed a third new server , and this server cannot be browsed , even
after re-installation thinking I could have made errors :
Note the following :
-one cannot ping it from another machine .
-One can ping other computers from it.
-All properties on ‘network places “ the same : client for Microsoft, file
and print sharing, QOS packet scheduler , TCP/IP for all workstation ,
NETBUI is added for the server.
-No firewall ( Mcafee 8.0i ) and microsoft defender beta on all servers
- Registry on PDC-emulator : IsDomainMaster = TRUE, MaintainServerlist= Yes
-Registry on other servers : IsDomainMaster = FALSE, MaintainServerlist= Yes
-I stopped the brower service on the the new server but there was no change .
- Registry shows: restrictedanonymous ‘ 0 , Hidden does not appear on
the list in the registry.
Please help here …..where did I go wrong ?
If I have to re-install this new server what are the configurations to look
for …..
