Server Browser Problem

Strange issue my domain controllers keep losing the ability to browse the
network and as a result my no one can access them. DC01 for some reason
unknown, and nothing in logs, keeps loosing the ability to browse. I finally
got it backup up by rebooting and rebooting, but I know that's not the
solution. Currently it's connected but DC02 can not browse the network and
no matter what I do it's still unable to see anything, however it can be
contacted. I can not however see DNS via DC01. DC01 & DC02 are DNS servers.
I"ve rebooted DC02 time and time. It can ping DC01 by netbios name from
DC01 and I can ping it from DC01 too, but I can not attach via DNS.

I don't know if this is the "calm b4 the storm". I can't seem to figure out
what's causing my Domain Controllers to lose the ability to browse my
network. Nothing has been changed. I've even rebooted all my switches too.
We never lose connectivity to the internet either. Anyone ever seen this????

Ideas????

The computer browser service has nothing to do with DNS. It is an NT
legacy app which relies on LAN broadcasts.

Does your DC have two NICs or are you using it as a remote access
server? Do you have lots of browser election messages in the event log?

I have 3 nic cards, I've had them working for years like this with no issues.
On DC01 I have 2 nic cards. One is for the regular network and one is a
10.10 for backups. On DC02 I have 3 nic cards, 2 for the network which are
balanced and one for the backup.

Is there anyway to designate a nic card just for the brower elections?

Multihomed DCs ar always likely to cause problems with the browser
service.

To prevent the browser service seeing the additional NICs you need to
disable Netbios over TCP/IP on them. Only one IP should be associated with
the computer's Netbios name.
