Server 2008 R2 file share access fails under heavy load

I have a 2008 R2 server that needs to access a 2003 file share.

Under light load, everything is fine. We have a service that process files
~2MB in size at the rate of 100 files per minute, and part of the processing
is moving the files to this file share.

Once the service is started access to the file share fails within 5 minutes
and the file share is no longer accessible until I restart Workstation
service. I have verified it is not a server side issue as other clients are
still able to access the share. The 2008 R2 server can also continue to
access other shares after the failure.

I'm mostly looking for troubleshooting advice. Net session and net files
show nothing at all, netstat -an doesn't show anything interesting. No errors
are logged.

Thanks,
Paul

I am not sure windows 2008 R2, but maybe you want to try autotuning or check
this post.
Vista: The copy process may stop responding (hang)

You may try to disable auto tuning. This post may help. Please post

That did it.

I thought I had already tried this, but I noticed after running 'netsh int
tcp show global' that the settings were still enabled.

Turns out I was bitten (for the millionth time) by the rights elevation
requirement on server 2008 and the batch file I wrote to run the netsh
commands didn't execute the first time.

Thanks for your help.

Paul
