Hi

I decided to eval Windows Server 2008 in a VMWare environment. For
networking I chose Host-only in VMWare Server and installed Windows Server
2008 Standard.

I added the AD controller role and ran dcpromo. That stopped in between
because of dynamic IP addresses. I went into the LAN adapter's Properties
and changed them to static ones. But dcpromo refuses to go past the point
where it checks for dynamic IP addresses. It seems not to recognize the
static ones I chose. What can I do now? I must try out the new AD before
Monday... I even rebooted the computer to no avail.

Thanks!

Hello Thomas,

Did you stop the promotion before reconfiguring the NIC settings? If not
cancel the promotion, set the fixed ip, reboot the server and start again.

Also make sure that you install the latest SP for Virtual server 2005 from
this page for full 2008 support:
