I have a winxp ws, it was a member of my domain, I intsalled a piece of
monitoring software (Vision 5). I had all kinds of problems with the
altiris vision software. I was suddenly no longer able to logon to network.
I uninstalled the software, and still not able to logon, I removed the pc
from the network, and tried to re-add the pc( I even renamed, and changed
the SID on it). I can ping my main server, as well as boot into ghost and
see my network images. So i think I have been blocked by the server I
cannot figure out where though. I checked my ports on the switch, they are
all fine, I even moved pc to different plugs just to make sure.

I am going nuts if you can help TIA.

Double check your tcp/ip configuration to make sure it is correct,
particularly for dns in that it points to your domain controller as it's
preferred dns server. Also check Event Viewer for any pertinent messages and
run the support tool netdiag on the XP box which will run a battery of
network connectivity, dns name resolution, and secure channel/trust tests.
Look for problems with winsock, dns, dc discovery, kerberos, and secure
channel/trust in particular. It might also be worth a try to boot into safe
mode with networking to see if that makes any difference and if it does you
have a conflict with a startup service/application. --- Steve
