Server 2003 has slow performance accesing Files on W2k Shares

We have 4 machines running Windows 2000 Server (PDC, BDC and two
"normal" member servers) and two machines running Windows 2003 Server
with Citrix Metaframe Presentationserver 3.0

Previous we were running Windows 2000 Server with Metaframe XP SR3 and
everything was working fine.
Since we have made the update of this two machines, file-access to files
stored on the Windows 2000 machines is incredible slow. Especialy saving
Fils from MS-Word, but also other programms are making trouble. Saving 2
MB Word-File may use up to 30 seconds.

All servers have 1GBit connections and as sayed; with Windows 2000
File-access was not a problem (there were others ;-)

Every idea is helpfull!!

Hello PowerFET,

We had this issue on a 2003 server when 2000pro and XPpro machines saved
files to it. Searching through google you'll find you are not alone In
a nutshell, it likely has to do with SMB signing. In our particular case,
we had to add the registery key 'TcpAckFrequency' with the value of 1
(reboot server) and all was instantly fixed.

Do a search either on google or http://support.microsoft.com using the
keyword TcpAckFrequency and you'll see the exact location. If nothing else,
just reading over the articles may shed a little more light into you issue.
