Separate modem and router

Hi All,

I am looking to implement some form of quality of service for our Internet
connection and have found a router that appears to be just the job (Linksys
BEFSR81). However, this is just a router and obviously needs an ADSL modem.
Is anyone using a stand-alone modem with a separate router that they would
recommend and easy to set up? Note that I want a simple straight though
modem with no built-in router or NAT services etc.and it has to work at full
G.DMT speed as we have a 2M pipe.

Thanks for any help, Mike

I would have thought running QOS on your link is pointless.
It has no effect on traffic coming into your site. and your
upload speed is 1/8 of your download speed. The chances are
that most of your upload traffic will be acks or requests
and unless you are running local servers then the upload
link is highly unlikely to be saturated enough where QOS
will make a difference.
