Sending wake on lan magic packet through adsl router

I would like to be able to wake a PC on my home lan from an external system
routing through an adsl router. Is this possible?

Wake on lan works OK within the lan (as you'd expect), but I would like to
wake a home system remotely from my office.

I've configured "PC Anywhere" to give me complete control of my home PC from
an external system via the router. I would like to be able to leave the home
PC turned off and wake it when I want to connect. Rather than leave it on
all the time.

If this won't work is there another way of achieving the same result.

Thanks,

Graham.

Does wake-on-lan utilise a specific port ?

I wonder if you can use port forwarding to pass the "remote" packet to
your machine - perhaps use an otherwise unused port (not one used by the
common trojans or it`ll be awake all the time :-} )

You may have to get the router to assign a designated IP address to your
machine using the MAC address of your system so it knows where to send
the trigger...

WOL overview

http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont.../magic_pkt.exe is an
AMD magic packet utility which uses UDP source and destination 2304 so
forwarding this port to your internal PC should let it be powered on
remotely.

Is there any documentation available that describes the use of port 2304?

I have the magic packet software and will try it....

Thanks,

Graham.
