You could immediately set up WEP (encryption) and even do mac address
filtering if it supports it. IIRC it does, I think this is the same
unit I have.
Then when you get the card for the laptop, just configure it to use
the correct WEP settings.
that should help keep out the majority of neighbors. The serious
hackers will still get in, but that should take care of your worries.
