Hi,
In configuring DHCP scope options, can I use a secondary dns server in the
DNS server entry? If I do so, does the dynamic update DNS work for DHCP
clients?
Thanks,

Hello tree,

Question 1:
Yes.

Question2:
Have a look here about updating DNS:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc787034.aspx

And a secondary DNS is not needed for updating records, the preferred will
be enough. This is only for redundancy in case the preferred is unavailable.

Best regards

Hi Meinolf,
thanks for the speedy response, but I might not have stated clearly in my
question.
In my quetion, "secondary DNS server" is not a second DNS server after the
preferred DNS server.
What I meant was the DNS server that I want to enter in the DNS server field
is a secondary DNS server for the DNS zone.
For example,
in the DHCP scope,
the parent domain is abc.com
say, the DNS servers for the zone abc.com are dnsserver1, and dnsserver2 of
which dnsserver1 is the master and dnsserver2 is a secondary (it is not a
DC).
in the DNS server field of the scope option I want to use dnsserver2 as it
is local.
I want to know whether this will affect DHCP clients' dynamic DNS update.

Thanks again

Hello tree,

Do you talk now about secondary zone? This is only a read-only copy, so not
writable.

Best regards
