SDSL router recommendations

Currently have a site with a Draytek 2600 router which is connected to
ADSL and has a number of remote routers/users connect to it. The plan
is to add an SDSL circuit to the central site - Draytek don't offer an
SDSL product.

Can anyone suggest a router which would offer the same sort of
facilities of the Draytek - but on SDSL?

Thanks in advance.

Eh?

Routers have no care if you are on adsl or sdsl connection.

Out of self interest, how much are you paying for your SDSL
and how big is it, and who is supplier and do you recommend
any others?

combined modem-router required, to the G.SHDSL standard.

stick to cable.

gives you same speed in each direction (symmetric vs asymmetric).

I was under the impression the Draytek, in line with most ADSL routers,
wouldn't work on an SDSL circuit. I could test it I suppose.

Decision not yet taken, but the shortlist includes AAISP, Zen and
AdvanceGroup.

Which is what you need if you have 20 odd homeworkers hanging off your
central server.

If that's what you're doing, then they might have a more reliable link
if your application can go on a server in a data centre, compared with
a relatively slow connection via SDSL - but it depends on the security
aspects and costs of course... Peter M.

Fred,

Drop me a line - (E-Mail Removed)

We have a low priced SDSL offer on until the end of the month, you may
just be able to catch it.

I can help you out with routers - our customers tend to use either
Cisco 828s and there are a couple of Zyxel Prestige models too that
are popular. I have the PDFs of them, get in touch and I'll email
them over to you.

That is a good idea and one we may end up adopting in some way. At the
moment we are using Terminal Services to a backend server running an
accounting system - but over the VPN users are also connecting to their
Exchange server. Putting the latter in a data centre is fine - the
former might be more of an issue to some users - since about another 40
odd users are based in the office using that same system. Put it in a
data centre and it then becomes a limiting factor for those office based
workers.

Thanks for the suggestion.
