Greetings,

I have an IBM X226 server with 6 hot-swap Hard disk bays containing 2 x 36GB
(mirrored) and 1 x 72 GB (single), all SCSI HDDs.

Server is running as DC and file sharing.

The single HDD (assigned letter E) contains all data shared by the company.

If I want to replace the harddrive for technical issues (possiblity of going
down because it's making an annoying sound), how would I restore all the
information with all the sharing and security options ?!!!

Shall I mirror it with another 72 GB and remove the old one and dispose it
or there's some other solution?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Regards,
ADEL

The answers depend on What OS you are running. If you are running some
version of Windows you could always use xcopy. If you are using Windows
NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP you could do the mirroring (I don't know
the exact details of what you'd need to do though). All of this doesn't
really matter on this newsgroup though as it is for the Microsoft
Broadband Networking Hardware & the software that comes with it. None
of that is of any interest to this issue. I'd suggest posting in a
newsgroup for the operating system you are running & not a hardware
newsgroup.

Please do not contact me directly or ask me to contact you directly for
assistance.

If your question is worth asking, it's worth posting.

If it’s not worth posting you should have done a search on
http://www.google.com/ http://www.google.com/grphp?hl=en&tab=wg&q= or
http://news.google.com/froogle?hl=en&tab=nf&ned=us&q= before wasting our
time.

If I sound hostile or arrogant you need to read the following before
posting a question "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" at
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html (The site I've linked
to just has this article I think people should read before posting a
technical question.)

Hello.

First...if is the single disk that you want to replace and save the data,
use a cloning program...it works.

Seccond...if it is a HDD in the SCSI array...you can restore it by entering
the SCSi control menu just after the BIOS test. With CTRL+G.....or what it
says on your display.

Good luck.
