Scheduling Use on DG834 Router

Hi all

I am struggling with the firewall rules/scheduling on the Netgear DG834
router.
The appeal of this model was the ability to schedule when the device would
allow traffic through, this allowing a cut off point for service in the
evening (coincidentally this cut-off point just happens to be the kids'
bedtime :-)).

Trouble is it didn't seem to work as anticipated last night.

Basically I set up an outbound rule which would allow any traffic during the
scheduled period and block any outside of this.
The schedule was set for every day between 00:01 and 21:30.
But internet access was not available this morning at 8:00 am and I had to
disable the rule before leaving for work.

Anyone know how to set this up? I don't find the supplied literature easy
to follow!

TIA

Phil

Never actually used this feature but something to bear in mind is a
plug in timer. Much less prone to requiring firmware updates and
suffering occasional wobblies.

So your internet would be blocked from 00:01 till 21.30
set your start time first ie 21.30 till 08.00. You can also specify which
ip addresses are blocked so the rules dont apply to your pc

Don't think it should be!?
Set the schedule time 00:01 till 12:30.
Select the Allow Traffic during schedule and block outside schedule option.
I would expect this to work within the times stated and not work outside
those times.

It should be very straight forward and works fine so long as you have the
rule(s) correctly defined, the latest firmware installed and the router
has the correct time set. Just check everything again carefully. If you
want a second opinion, set a temporary password and allow someone with
more experience access by Remote Management to review your settings.

The instructions on the right hand side of the screen are very clear and
simple to follow. Mine works OK and I had never tried that feature before.
