SBS 2003 - clients unable to obtain IP Address

I've got a Windows 2003 SBS Server. It is running the DHCP Service which has
been authorized. The scope is 10.0.0.5 - 10.0.0.100. The ip of the
configured NIC is 10.0.0.2 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. There is
currently no default gateway since I have the server connected to a hub and
from there two workstations connect. The workstations cannot reach the DHCP
server and get an AIPIPA of 169.254.x.x.

I've switched out the hub for another hub, no change.
I've ensured the service is running, and the Server is 'authorized'.
The IP Assigned to the NIC is within the same subnet as the scope of IP
Addresses to give to clients.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you activate the scope in DHCP? If you don't activate the scope, the
DHCP server is not able to lease addresses from the scope.

The scope was activated. And I also did some searching and found that the IP
of the NIC {10.0.0.2} was not bound to the DHCP Server. I changed this,
restarted the service, but the issue remains.

One other correction ... the scope is actually from 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.50

Anything else?

I'm not sure about the main problem, but I would change this anyway. The
Scope's IP Range should encompass the whole subnet. You then use Exlusions
to reduce it to the range that you actually want it to give out. This allows
future altering of the available addresses without having to completely
delete the scope and recreate it.
